Winchester UniversityWinchester University, located in southern England, was established in 1840 and boasts the ancient and aptly-named King Alfred Campus. Today, Winchester University, officially known as the University of Winchester, after changing its name from King Alfred’s College, is a medium-sized institute of teaching and research with about 5,500 students and 550 staff. Most students at Winchester University are taking undergraduate courses, although a significant number of students are involved with foundation degrees, taught postgraduate and research degrees, and professional and short courses There are three schools of faculty at the university, including the:

The Martial Rose Library is spread over three floors and features a quality collection of books, journals, music and video, while the IT and Communication Services Department provides excellent computer and Internet access and a wide range of sound equipment.Sports facilities feature sports halls and pitches, a modern gym and several sports clubs, while accommodation at Winchester University is provided by quality halls of residence and nearby accommodation in rented flats and town houses.
Winchester CityWinchester has a marvelous history. It was originally the capital of England and the home of Alfred the Great. The city lies amid beautiful countryside and is best known for its grand cathedral (England’s longest), and its huge market.Shopping options are wide-ranging, where fashionable boutiques, souvenir shops and standard UK high street stores rub shoulders with one another. Eating and drinking establishments are also aplenty, particularly the latter - Winchester prides itself on having more pubs per head than anywhere else in the country. In addition, with nearby quality attractions such as Southampton, Bournemouth and the Isle of Wight and the excellent road and rail connections with London, studying at Winchester University is an easy choice.
Student LoansWinchester University is allowed to charge new, full-time students up to £3,000 a year for tuition fees from September 2006. Many students will apply for a student loan to cover their tuition fees and day to day living costs. Student loans are the best option for borrowing money for college as interest rates are traditionally low and repayments don't start until graduated students are in work and are earning over £15,000.
