University of Central Lancashire Preston

The University of Central Lancashire Preston, commonly referred to as UCLan Preston, is located in England’s northwest, near the popular seaside resort of Blackpool and only minutes from the city centre of Preston. The quality of teaching, learning and research at the University of Central Lancashire Preston is excellent and students are drawn from countries the world over.

The various faculties, departments, and facilities at the University of Central Lancashire Preston are close-knit and within easy walking distance of each other.

There are five faculties at the university, including:

 • Design and Technology
 • Faculty of Health
 • Faculty of Science
 • Lancashire Business School

University of Central Lancashire Preston Campus Life

Sport, recreation services and facilities at the campus and nearby are superb, with the extended Foster Sports Centre offering a full range of sporting activities. In addition, the Preston Sports Arena has good facilities for fitness and athletics, team sports, and outdoor pursuits.

Another quality aspect of the University of Central Lancashire Preston is the popular and comprehensive UCLan Students’ Union, which offers a range of shops and entertainment venues, not to mention the radio station and magazine. Library and computer facilities at the university are also extensive.

The City of Preston

Preston is a happening city with some outstanding cultural attractions and museums and an exciting range of shopping options. The nightlife is wide ranging and vibrant, with a well developed performing arts scene that includes the theatre, ballet, drama, and concerts, and numerous cafes, restaurants, pubs, bars and clubs.

For a change of scenery, nearby Blackpool is one of Britain’s star attractions, with a huge funfair, known as the Pleasure Beach, miles of golden sand, three piers crammed with all manner of attractions, and an amazing nightlife. Bustling Manchester, and the magnificent Lake District region, are also both nearby.

Student Loans

The University of Central Lancashire Preston is allowed to charge new, full-time students up to £3,000 a year for tuition fees from September 2006. Many students will apply for a student loan to cover their tuition fees and day to day living costs. Student loans are the best option for borrowing money for college as interest rates are traditionally low and repayments don't start until graduated students are in work and are earning over £15,000.
