Luton University

Luton University, founded in 1993, is a new, yet well established UK institution of learning with an interesting and modern curriculum. Thousands of undergraduate and postgraduate students, both domestic and international, call Luton University home and study on two campuses.

A huge range of courses are available to students at the University of Luton, where flexibility of programmes allows students to sample work-experience in their chosen field to better prepare them. There are three schools of faculty at the University of Luton, including the:

 • Faculty of Creative Arts, Technologies and Science
 • Faculty of Health and Social Sciences
 • Luton Business School

In addition, there is the Work Based Learning Unit, which is involved in research and development through on-the-job learning. Guidance and counselling is also offered at the Work Based Learning Unit of the University of Luton, as well as:

 • and Research and Development Interests

Luton University is particularly revered for its success in the teaching of building, design, media, nursing, biosciences, and psychology, with outstanding marks from the Quality Assurance Agency (QAA).

Luton University Campus Life

The main campus at Luton University is located in Luton town centre at Park Square, while the other is situated on the outskirts of Luton at Putteridge Bury. Accommodation is in nearby, purpose-built halls of residence, where many rooms are equipped with Internet access.

Student sports facilities at the university are excellent, where students can partake in virtually any sport, including: football, rugby, badminton, squash, basketball, netball, and swimming. In addition, the nearby Vauxhall Recreation Club, for which students also have access, has a fitness suite, sauna, sports bar and snooker and pool tables, while the Students’ Union has its own nightclub and bar.

Other student services and facilities at Luton University include a management and conference centre and an excellent student health centre, complete with sports massage therapy.

Luton town

Luton is a university town through and through, with no end of entertainment options for students of all ages, where shopping malls, entertainment centres, cafes, bars, pubs and clubs are in abundance.

The modern Arndale Shopping Centre is sure to impress, with its quality main stream and unique shops, while the Galaxy Centre offers multiple cinema screens, ten-pin bowling, bingo, video games machines, and a variety of cool restaurants and bars, all under one roof. In Luton town centre itself, the likes of the Chicago Rock Cafe and Space are happening nighttime venues.

Student Loans

Luton University is allowed to charge new, full-time students up to £3,000 a year for tuition fees from September 2006. Many students will apply for a student loan to cover their tuition fees and day to day living costs. Student loans are the best option for borrowing money for college as interest rates are traditionally low and repayments don't start until graduated students are in work and are earning over £15,000.
