Huddersfield UniversityLocated in West Yorkshire, Huddersfield University is known for its outstanding graduate employment record and quality vocational courses. Huddersfield University offers its 20,000 students (many of whom originate from overseas) a high level of support, while campus facilities are superb. There are 1,500 staff at the University of Huddersfield, a large percentage of whom are actively engaged in important research. Student courses include Undergraduate HE Level, Postgraduate Level Taught, and Postgraduate Level Research. In addition, the University of Huddersfield is highly rated for its Sandwich Courses, where students have the benefit of paid work placement in industry or commerce. Huddersfield University Campus LifeThe campus at Huddersfield University is right in the heart of the city and has recently seen much investment and extensive redevelopment. The purpose-built Huddersfield Students’ Union offers an excellent range of social and leisure facilities, as well as shopping.Accommodation consists of quality halls of residence and nearby flats and houses, while a well-equipped sports hall and fitness centre, an astroturf pitch and lots of clubs and societies make up the sports facilities. Huddersfield University also offers its students excellent campus support at the Campus Support Centre and the commendable library has modern and extensive computer facilities.
The city of HuddersfieldLocated to the northwest of Manchester in northern England, Huddersfield is well connected by road and rail and benefits from two, nearby international airports (Manchester International Airport and Leeds/Bradford International Airport).Huddersfield itself is a medium-sized town with plenty of culture and history. Its pedestrianised city centre streets are characterized by restored Victorian architecture and a large collection of cafes, restaurants, and traditional pubs and bars, while the nearby beauty of the Pennine Hills offer ample opportunity for hikers.
Student LoansHuddersfield University is allowed to charge new, full-time students up to £3,000 a year for tuition fees from September 2006. Many students will apply for a student loan to cover their tuition fees and day to day living costs. Student loans are the best option for borrowing money for college as interest rates are traditionally low and repayments don't start until graduated students are in work and are earning over £15,000.
