Durham UniversityDurham University was founded in 1832 and is consistently given praise for its high-quality teaching and learning. There are two campuses at Durham University; one in the city of Durham and the other in Stockton, known as Queen's Campus. The 14,000-strong student population is spread over the two locations as are the 2,000 plus staff. There are several schools covering numerous subjects at Durham University, which are divided into three faculties:

In addition, students will find quality residential, social and welfare facilities, as well as superb sports opportunities. The Durham Students' Union is particularly popular.
The City of DurhamDurham is dominated by a magnificent 12th century Cathedral, one of the finest in Britain, while the town centre is bursting with shops and attractions. Shopping options in Durham are second to none, with all the regular UK high street brand name stores, numerous speciality shops and the refurbished Victorian Indoor Market, with its many stalls.For entertainment, the cobbled Market Place is a haven for street entertainers in the summer months, while Durham’s many cafes, restaurants, inns and bars provide ample opportunity to sample the wonderful fare and traditional ales of the region.
Student LoansDurham University is allowed to charge new full-time students up to £3,000 a year for tuition fees from September 2006. Many students will apply for a student loan to cover their tuition fees and day to day living costs. Student loans are the best option for borrowing money for college as interest rates are traditionally low and repayments don't start until graduated students are in work and are earning over £15,000.
