Cranfield University Campus Life

The three campuses at Cranfield University are the main Cranfield Campus, near Milton Keynes, nearby Silsoe Campus, and Shrivenham Campus, near Swindon. Situated to the northwest of London, Cranfield and Silsoe have excellent transport links, with the main M1 motorway running nearby, while Shrivenham is near the M4.

Student facilities and services at all three campuses are very good, with access to sporting options, good library facilities and student welfare at the students' union, and a selection of shops and cafes. In addition, the campuses of Cranfield University are also located close to the major ‘New Towns’ of Milton Keynes and Swindon.

The cities of Milton Keynes and Swindon

Known for its shopping prowess, Milton Keynes, located to the southwest of Cranfield, lies amid beautiful countryside, where parklands, lakes and woodlands are all featured. The main attraction, however, is the Central Milton Keynes Shopping Centre, which has every type of merchandise on offer in brand name department stores and unique specialist shops. Other city attractions include the Xcape entertainment complex and numerous cafes, pubs and clubs.

Further to the southwest and near to Shrivenham campus, Swindon, the largest town in Wiltshire, has a well-preserved history owing to the genius of Brunel and the Great Western Railway. The ‘New Town’ part of Swindon is in the northern part of the city and features the bulk of the pedestrianised shopping options, while the Old Town boasts the history and atmosphere. Nightlife includes the theatre and a wide range of bars and clubs in the Old Town.

Student Loans

Cranfield University is allowed to charge new, full-time students up to £3,000 a year for tuition fees from September 2006. Many students will apply for a student loan to cover their tuition fees and day to day living costs. Student loans are the best option for borrowing money for college as interest rates are traditionally low and repayments don't start until graduated students are in work and are earning over £15,000.
