Coventry UniversityCoventry University, previously Coventry Polytechnic, was originally established back in the mid-19th century as the Coventry College of Design and is renowned both nationally and internationally for its high quality teaching and research. Coventry University is ideally located right in the centre of historic Coventry and is home to thousands of full-time and part-time undergraduate and postgraduate students. A sizeable portion of these students are from overseas, with around 2,600 coming from China, India, Thailand, the Middle East and Europe. Coventry University Campus LifeCoventry University campus is situated in the heart of Coventry and is surrounded by some of the citys most impressive attractions. The campus lies on a large, purpose-built site, which comprises a state-of-the-art library, the new Student Centre and the 20-acre Coventry University Technology Park.Accommodation options at the Coventry University campus are excellent, with quality halls of residence and nearby self-catering flats in the private sector. The Coventry University Students' Union is situated in two, on-campus buildings, one of which is the popular entertainments building at 'Fifty-Four' in Cox Street. The Student Union runs numerous clubs and societies, as well as hosting many intriguing events throughout the year.
Coventry CityCoventry is a combination of old and new, with a dazzling array of ancient and modern architecture, best seen in its two cathedrals one ruined and one new - and a lively pedestrianised city centre.The Cathedral Quarter is the most popular place for students in the town centre, which is characterized by the impressive cathedrals and a tangle of cobbled streets loaded with pubs and restaurants. The Cathedral Quarter is located right next to Coventry University. In addition, the city centre boasts brilliant museums and medieval splendour at Spon Street, while the Belgrade Theatre stages popular shows.
Student LoansCoventry University is allowed to charge new, full-time students up to £3,000 a year for tuition fees from September 2006. Many students will apply for a student loan to cover their tuition fees and day to day living costs. Student loans are the best option for borrowing money for college as interest rates are traditionally low and repayments don't start until graduated students are in work and are earning over £15,000.
