Brighton UniversityBrighton University today boasts 19,000 students and 2,100 staff and is split into four campuses in the hugely popular city of Brighton and nearby Eastbourne. Brighton University dates back to the mid-19th century, although it wasn’t until 1992 that it received its university status. The quality of teaching at the University of Brighton is superb, with one of the best teaching records in the UK. So good, in fact, that it is one of only six universities rated as 'Category A' in primary education by OFSTED. Sport is taken seriously here, with physical education, sport science, exercise science, leisure studies and leisure management courses all available. There are five schools of faculty at the University of Brighton, including:
• Arts and Architecture
Brighton University Campus LifeThere is some excellent, well-priced accommodation in all four campuses at Brighton University, either in halls, university-managed housing or in local neighbourhoods. In addition there are several shops, cafes, restaurants and bars, while the University of Brighton Students' Union provides some fantastic options.
The City of BrightonBrighton is still one of Britain’s most happening seaside towns and is very popular with the gay community. There are some massive attractions along the seafront, including the Palace Pier, while the nearby flamboyant Royal Pavilion is an exotic oriental masterpiece. The Lanes in the centre of town is a network of cozy pedestrianised streets and passages loaded with unique shops, cafes, restaurants and pubs.
Student LoansBrighton University is allowed to charge new, full-time students up to £3,000 a year for tuition fees from September 2006. Many students will apply for a student loan to cover their tuition fees and day to day living costs. Student loans are the best option for borrowing money for college as interest rates are traditionally low and repayments don't start until graduated students are in work and are earning over £15,000.
