Aston University

Aston University is an established university and has one of the best records for graduate employment in the UK. This century-old institution is highly rated and specializes in industry, government and commerce, and boasts world class teaching and research.

Aston University offers some 300 courses at postgraduate (Masters and PhD Research programmes) and undergraduate level (first degree), as well as a healthy research prowess among many disciplines.

Aston University Campus Life

Facilities at the University of Aston are excellent and are all located in a safe and scenic campus environment in the centre of bustling Birmingham. Student sporting facilities at the campus are also good and the social life and accommodation options are outstanding.

There are more than 2,000 on-campus rooms available at the University of Aston that are distributed throughout a wide range of living options to suit all budgets; including: high-rise, low-rise, lakeside, and off-campus, residential accommodation. All accommodation is self-catered at Aston University, although there are plenty of eateries for those who can't cook. In addition the Aston Students' Guild provides great support options for students.

The City of Birmingham

Birmingham is the UK’s second city and is no longer the drab metropolis it used to be. Many areas of the city have been renovated and glitzy shopping centres abound. There is also much history and architecture here, including the 18th century neo-classical St Philip’s Cathedral, while nearby Cannon Hill Park is great for respite from the bustle of the city and for recreational activities.

Birmingham excels at night time, too, where restaurants of all description and plentiful pubs and clubs provide lots of options.

Student Loans

Aston University is allowed to charge new, full-time students up to £3,000 a year for tuition fees from September 2006. Many students will apply for a student loan to cover their tuition fees and day to day living costs. Student loans are the best option for borrowing money for college as interest rates are traditionally low and repayments don't start until graduated students are in work and are earning over £15,000.
