Abertay UniversityFounded in 1888, Abertay University was awarded university status in 1994 and is a top-rated university in Scotland for environmental science research. Abertay University has a student population of about 5,000, with over 60 nationalities represented on campus and a further 600 off-campus students overseas. The City of DundeeLocated in eastern Scotland, to the north of Edinburgh, Dundee, Scotland’s fourth city, boasts much history and architecture and is within easy reach of the enchanting Scottish Highlands. There is a diverse range of attractions here, including several quality museums and galleries and the impressive Discovery Point, which houses Captain Scott’s ship, the Royal Research Discovery.Shopping options in Dundee are also one of its attractions, where pedestrianised streets offer a mixture of unique specialist outlets and snazzy shopping centres. In addition, there are many parks here and a massive amount of eateries in all categories, not to mention the unending choice of nightly entertainment that includes traditional pubs, modern bars and pumping nightclubs.
Student LoansAbertay University is allowed to charge UK non-Scots between £1,700 and £1,900 per year. Scottish and EU students from outside the UK will have their fees paid for them by the SAAS (Student Awards Agency for Scotland) but will have to pay the Graduate Endowment upon successful completion of their degree. Student loans are the best option for covering tuition fees and day to day living costs as interest rates are traditionally low and repayments don't start until graduated students are in work and are earning over £15,000.
